yup. we had some around 2001-2003 at the last maximum, but still nothing like last year or even tonight. oct 11 2024 was insane. there was a loop visible in the allsky camera all night at about 45 deg elevation.

best i can do from the MMTO allsky camera at the moment. will need to reprocess some of the raw data to pull it out better from the overexposed city lights...

the bench on the front porch of our b’more house developed a layer of orange sheddings over time. i had assumed it was our neighbor’s large orange cat. however, i peeked out early one morning and saw that it was not, in fact, a cat… 🦊

hell yeah! good enough with easy future improvements is a great position to be in. i’ve been pleasantly surprised how future-proof the AMD system i built 5 years ago has been.

it was bad. fortunately our friends were stocked with skunk-off shampoo that made a huge difference.
