@joelanderson.bsky.social not that there isn’t plenty to talk about in CFP, but did you see this article that lists the number of conference ties and how few times these teams actually played each other? It’s shocking the ACC teams only had four games between them.

Ohio State's invincibility, Texas' CFP conundrum and Lane Kiffin's legacy
Why the Buckeyes are so dominant, the ACC is so confusing and the playoff picture still isn't settled.

We took a lot of heat for throwing snowballs against our own ND players in 2008 when we lost to Syracuse. But to my death I’ll contend I was aiming for that stupid Orange mascot that was moonwalking in our end zone. Cant beat them badly enough

I have witnessed someone drown because I didn’t know what it looked like. I grew up on the water in FL and am a fully trained physician and it still happened. Articles like this are invaluable
Thanks for the reminder @janemunday.bsky.social. Every summer, I repost this article DROWNING DOES NOT LOOK LIKE DROWNING. To date, I know of FOUR kids who were saved after someone who'd clicked on the link learnt how to spot actual drowning. Take time to read and pass on.

So much effort to move us to an uninhabitable desert rather than try to preserve and protect the literally perfect planet that we have
It's fine and fun to dunk on SpaceX when their rockets blow up, but I also feel like we need to remember that even if the rockets stop blowing up the whole point of building them is so Elon can send people to Mars, and there is nothing on Mars, no water, it's freezing, and no one can live there.

Dying isn’t always the worst outcome
What is common knowledge in your field but shocks outsiders?

Intensive care doesn’t always “give people a chance”. Sometimes it is actively harmful and results in suffering.

My whole life I had thought of a Wombat as equal in prowess and ferociousness as the fearsome Wolverine. I googled a picture out of curiosity from this post and ohmygoodnessitssocute
There's a thread on AskReddit asking, "People who have had to drain their life’s savings on a single event, what happened?"

99% of the answers are depressing American stories about medical bills, 1% is an Australian who found a wombat burrowing under their house.
