In 1831 Mexican folk healer Don Pedrito Jaramillo moved to Texas and settled in a small village near modern day Falfurrias. He was born around 1829 and died on July 3, 1907. Author Alexis Arredondo chronicled Don Pedrito's exploits in an article from the Summer 2023 edition of the Quarterly Journal.
