I noticed in Vienna that they have a city-branded car club where the hire sits on their transit platform alongside their bike scheme. Seems like an obvious way to reduce private ownership (and the associated street clutter).

Well there is that. When my other half was working temporarily for the civil service he made a few bob from Avanti on delay repay.

Curious. I'm travelling on that service on Tuesday as it happens.

I'm a big fan of Linglongs Road in Whaley but unfortunately there is a Linglongs Avenue too...also in Whaley.

You might be right! Either way it seems a unique road name.

My sister in law lives near a Grable Avenue. I think it's an intentional muddling (not sure why) of Gable (as in Clark) as a lot of the surrounding streets are named after actors.

Always a case of "what exact rule am I breaking here?"
November 30, 2025 at 11:21 AM
it's not either or!

No mention of footway or pavement in there.
November 28, 2025 at 3:36 PM
thought you said it wasn't a vehicle?
November 28, 2025 at 3:30 PM
They'd complain about being forced into the road?
November 28, 2025 at 1:58 PM
it's a vehicle on the bloody pavement, it can get fucked.
November 28, 2025 at 1:48 PM
right and if it stopped what happens then? it's still in the way. yes, maybe all these lovely simple pedestrians could squeeze past and don't need to step off the pavement, but any buggy or wheelchair is stuck.
November 28, 2025 at 1:42 PM
you're arguing semantics. People are having to change their path to get past. If it was a large non-moving object (say a roadworks sign) blocking the pavement I would also say "forced".
November 28, 2025 at 1:41 PM
pedestrians are allowed to cross the road! even on red man!

In case anyone is totally confused, the prof wasn't talking about the beer or the festive dessert but in fact the obsolete atomic model en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plum_pu...

on a scale of 1 to SMBC, how wrong are the tactiles?
November 27, 2025 at 1:48 PM
Any time there is a charge for parking or driving anywhere it's apparently a tax on business/going to work or some such bollocks but ever-increasing (until this year!!) bus and train fares...? Meh. Tough shit.
