I mean, just today in the French press, I read articles that do everything they can to make unworthy behavior seem normal because it's the POTUS. Like, for example, inventing a peace prize. Interfering in the internal politics of the EU. Killing shipwreck victims. Everything seems normal.

There is increasing recognition on the left that whatever benefit the pardon power has at allowing the redress of unjust punishments for crimes has been way overwhelmed at its use for corruption and criminal impunity for the rich and elites. We can find other ways to deal with the former.
