Nursing homes are cash cows, they don't pay staff enough to care. FIL this year was fed solid food when he had delirium. Partner had to remove solid huge chunks of food out of his mouth where the staff had left him like it for hours. We asked over and over to stop it. Cruel places are nursing homes.
