I think it also depends if the sender is prepaying the tariffs. Amazon usually does, but this was coming from an Amazon seller.

Yeah, I've gotten enough pre-delivery shakedowns from them that I'd pick someone else if given the option, but in this case there wasn't a choice. I do appreciate that they give you the paperwork for it though, just in case there's ever a class action lawsuit or something

I was looking to see if there was something like this, but since it has to include an IDE board it's not that much cheaper than the drive emulator. I couldn't tell you the pros and cons of either solution, though.

I think it was superfluous for what I wanted, and in terms of things I could let go of atm that one wasn't too difficult. The disc thing was definitely worrying, and probably the reason I never got around to powering it on, but I've seen a lot of people say it's their preferred/primary pce console.
