I spend money on alphi merch because I adore him and enjoy collecting merch with his cute ass face on it. It's so fun to enjoy collecting with my friends and send each other listings.

I get put off by the "well I buy the most so I love them the most" energy.

You should buy/draw/write etc out of an abundance of love for the character. Why is your motivation out of a desire for a medal that doesn't exist?
