Yep, to D&D 5e rules is what it looks like. For... reasons... I guess?

Eh. I think this “cash in” is gonna have a pretty short shelf-life and then they’re gonna wonder where all the 2d6 fans went 🤷‍♀️

Whether your first assertion is true, I cannot say, and the publicly stated reason of it "being easier on Brennon" is, well, what they publicly stated.

However, they'd clearly been planning DH for some time, and knew they were doing C4, and they could have made choices in line with that.

Agreed. C4 doing D&D probably killed Daggerheart as a "consensus" kind of game. And it seems like companies *other* than CR/DP are more interested/invested in its success. And it's kind of a shame — while I'm tepid on the ruleset, the production value and price point are fantastic.

Yeah, this is *such* a weird thing to do

That seems to be the case. As to why? Other than “crass cash grab”, I struggle to find an explanation.

Hm. It’s really strange to see boxed games having a moment and being really exciting for design space while being at a very tricky moment production-wise when we see boardgame companies struggling and shutting down.
