So how can we develop better religion and belief literacy for the whole population?

We need to equip all sectors with the tools and confidence for good conversations about religion so informal RE can happen everywhere to create a more religiously literate population and compassionate communities.

However, the picture is patchy...

❌ Informal RE is inconsistent. It’s strongest in areas of greater religious diversity. Those in less diverse communities have fewer opportunities to encounter different worldviews.

❌ Some sectors seem reluctant to talk about religion.

But what does informal RE look like? 💬

It could be anything from a community iftar meal hosted by your local football club, faith training for police officers, to learning about Judaism from TikTok rabbis.
