Well THAT’S depressing

There’s been a lot of progress lately on Perovskite durability. Apparently there are even some (VERY) expensive hybrid panels available now. It’s coming.
December 2, 2025 at 10:49 AM
Well… we need to know more about durability. And how easy they’d be to mass-produce. And recycle. But apparently there have been huge strides in improving Perovskite durability so this is definitely promising

You wonder what kind of demented genius cooked that up, but damn it was fun (video included)

Also: Jack Nietze’s music is spare, otherworldly, and beautiful

My favourite Carpenter. At its heart it’s really E.T. for grownups and maybe that was the elevator pitch but Jeff Bridges and Karen Allen are both so damn good. That diner sequence is perfect.
December 2, 2025 at 10:35 AM
Yeah, that was it. Always thought that was generous of them to do that
December 2, 2025 at 10:22 AM
I hate you for the mental image that accompanied this post
December 2, 2025 at 10:18 AM
I’m tired. Sorry for the redundant “deliberately” 😁

IIRC the Bee Gees deliberately delayed their own version deliberately to give Tavares a little chart time with theirs
December 2, 2025 at 10:15 AM
…lips?

You should get that looked at

As a Canadian I want to recognize the Americans that I know didn’t want Trump at all. My problem is with ALL the ones who did.
December 2, 2025 at 10:08 AM
(Yes, I have my own answer for this but I want to see a few of yours first)

In my all-time top five. Excellent storytelling

Still mad that Michael Caine beat him out for Best Supporting that year
December 2, 2025 at 9:42 AM
It’s a legit great movie. I love that Bruce Willis believed in it so much he worked for scale during filming (he got points on the box office, of course)
December 2, 2025 at 9:41 AM
I’ve only watched it twice. First in the theatre on release (and I’ve NEVER experienced an audience reaction like that at a movie), and the 2nd time with my teen ghost-story-obsessed daughter

It holds up even knowing the twist, and her reaction was every bit as dumbfounded as mine at the end
December 2, 2025 at 9:39 AM
EXACTLY.
December 2, 2025 at 9:36 AM
Damn you beat me to it

I’m hoping it’s something else, honestly. And I was kind of enjoying the ambiguity of the “pod people”, as in, that nagging question of whether they are maybe on to something.

Making it Soylent Green turns them into cliched monsters and I hope the answer is smarter than that
December 2, 2025 at 8:41 AM
I’m hoping not, honestly, because that seems too cliched.
