Your friend glances at you, seeing your face as you try not to look down at his briefs.

"Hey, Dad" he jabs his thumb at you. "He wears 'em too." Shock replaces embarrassment across your face.

I bought the wrong size, so I never got to truly experience them

I guess 2012 is as long as I can remember then! XD

Derek knew it was ridiculous, but he still gritted his teeth as he swapped his Nike boxer briefs for tight, white Fruit of the Looms. There was no going back now.

Way too cool to be covered up

Derek groaned as he pulled the briefs from his shoulder. He remembered wearing white briefs as a kid, but he had switched to boxers at 12 or 13. They looked identical, though bigger. It felt weird. His mind thought of them as little kid underwear, yet this pair was big. Big enough for him.

"Now."

"Dad!"

"Now or you'll be taking these out to the trash without pants." Dad said. "Good thing you just did laundry yesterday." He eyed Derek's mostly empty hamper before looking back at his frozen son. "Derek."

"Dad!" Derek all but squeaked when he ripped open one of the packages of white briefs and put them into his drawer.

"You made your choice." Dad grabbed a pair and tossed them at Derek, snorting as they landed on his shoulder and Derek jumped as if it was a giant spider. "Boxers off, briefs on."

Unfortunately, he realized how serious Dad was when he yanked open Derek's underwear drawer and shoved every pair of boxers into one of the plastic shopping bags.

By the time they pulled into the garage, Derek had realized Dad's game: this was all a trick. He would still be in boxers. Evan would probably just get the extras. He snorted. His so-called punishment had made his brother even more of a tighty whitie boy.

Derek was numb all the way through checkout and the trek to the car, hardly even noticing how much his brother was snickering about his predicament.

"Quit, Evan." Derek muttered as they got into the car, his fugue causing him to miss Evan calling shotgun.
