I've been thinking some more about this and I suspect it's linked to the view of learning as just being about memorising more of what you might call 'knowledge items' rather than being a flexible, living, breathing thing.
Woke up thinking about the narrative that 'there's no such thing as transferable skills'. I just don't agree. If you learn how to paint a picture, you're going to be better at painting a wall. If you learn how to think laterally, you're going to be able to do that in various scenarios.

Most of us have used Global Positioning System (GPS) for navigation & we can thank Gladys West for creating the foundation for GPS.

She used her mathematical & programming expertise to invent an accurate model of the Earth.

She was inducted into the US Air Force Hall of Fame.

Oh for goodness sake... We're in the midst of a curriculum review; why are they adding new deckchairs? 🙄

I get very little support time. I’m meant to meet all the needs of my class by myself & teach a full curriculum.

I can do one or the other. Yes I can preempt a meltdown, but not whilst teaching a lesson.

If you need me I’ll be fixing a recurring dodgy connection on a pupil’s wheelchair…

As someone who has seen both primary and secondary schools up close, I thought I'd add to this with a brief list of some of the most significant differences between them.

(This is obviously based on my own experiences, so pinch of salt.)
