Just listening to Earth Song by Michael Jackson as I work and a spider gently abseiled down on its silk from above and then went back up again. Discerning creature.

Bottom of a Stink Pipe, one of two found in Lechlade on Thames, Gloucestershire. Set above sewers, they were put there to vent gases. Most date from the Victorian period.

Is there anyone out there from the north of England or Scotland who can tell me what the word 'Skeil' means?
Thanks.

Yesterday spent a lovely evening looking for the source of the River Leach which meets the River Thames at Lechlade. A sheep kindly posed to demonstrate the purity of the spring source at Hammett near Northleach.

And another reason why a record may not be found. Following the Battle of Naseby 1645:
'Many buried in Churchyard after the Battle 164[5] pages of Reggister lost'.

For every undamaged and readable document I come across, I am truly thankful. It's not always the case...

Looking forward to engaging with like-minded people on this platform.

Today I'm researching Fallen Women as part of Forgotten Women Friday and hoping to give a voice to those not so fortunate in the era they were living.
