The ice has been melting for *decades*.
Ice doesn't stop melting when you stop raising the thermostat.

The ice was already melting at +1.0C

Also the tickets.

It shouldn't need saying but these people absolutely are capable of have a national rail system with privatised tickets.

I enjoyed the idea of "Ask ChatGPT to answer the question and tell me why it's wrong" but that might not be useful to your course.

You probably can't stop them trying to use LLMs for your assignments.
You shouldn't expect to spot all the attempts

Zero tolerance on the ones you do spot could help?

They've tried nothing at all and there's no other options!

Deforestation is both a global story and a local one — while 95% of deforestation occurs in the tropics, everyday products, such as beef, avocados, coffee, palm oil, paper, and even beauty products like collagen are produced on deforested land.

If it was me I'd be willing to take a performance hit for the benefit of not giving MS money ...and it sounds like MS is just outright worse now.

Do you actually use much that wasn't already available in document formats 20 years ago?

Also the companies involved are making absurdly large losses: actual "sink the USA economy" scale losses.

People using this shit privately is less of a problem but still bad.

...and all that is just the direct impact of the outputs quite aside from the water-guzzling biosphere-burning universal-plagiarism aspect.

A few lawyers have fallen foul of it already* and there are now a couple of studies showing that programmers are less productive with it because someone has to fix all the bad code afterwards.

* many more probably weren't caught which is going to be fun for the appeals

Lots of companies are forcing their employees to use these things and it's completely trashing those companies -though most of them haven't noticed yet because the outputs now tend to be superficially good initially (and if not those outputs get replaced).

Also making sure other countries don't put up barriers to stop rapacious USA corporations from taking all their resources.

They only really believe in free trade when it means other countries letting them loot their resources.

It's important not to mistake what they say for what they believe.

I can't get my head around someone thinking that giving away made-up $s for tangible goods is somehow a bad deal
