Many thanks to Mickey Factz for visiting my class on Kendrick Lamar at Temple University (“Kendrick Lamar and the Morale of the m.A.A.d city”).

We discussed his career, the Blog Era, collaborating with Kendrick, and what makes Kendrick such a compelling writer. We even got a bar breakdown.

There’s an old country adage that says you can boil a live frog in a pot on the stove so long as you gradually increase the temperature, because it will not perceive the inherent danger of the incrementally increasing heat.

The water is now boiling. Let the reader understand.

In all seriousness, with all this talk about #HarrietTubman, I’d highly recommend Dr. Erica Armstrong Dunbar’s #SheCametoSlay. Y’all need that in your life.

Yesterday, we celebrated the beautiful lives and legacy of Kwasi and Elizabeth Agbottah.

I thank God for placing such a treasure in the earth.

It is beautiful to see their legacies alive and well in their five children. As his eldest said, we must finish what they started. We will.

Balloons on my page and what not…

This last rotation around the sun has been a beautiful adventure, truly. God is faithful. I am grateful for this life God has given me, and thankful to be surrounded by so many who love and support me.

Yesterday was magnificent, truly. My baby interviewed her favorite author and did an incredible job!

The Center for Anti-Racism at Temple hosted #1 New York Times best seller Nic Stone for an author talk.

My eldest moderated, and the two had a special conversation.

Counsel for UMG had jokes.

“Facts and criticism concerning Drake's relationships with minors predate ‘Not Like Us’ and have been widely reported … Millie Bobby Brown ... talked about texting with Drake when she was, you know, a minor.”

Absolutely hilarious.

"Instead of accepting the loss like the unbothered rap artist he often claims to be, he has sued his own record label in a misguided attempt to salve his wounds."

UMG told Aubrey if he wants to be funny, they can be hilarious.

Happy Independence Day to my beloved ancestral homeland!

Victory to all those seeking to govern themselves. May we all know the liberty of independence.

‘Twas an eventful #BlackHistoryMonth.

I led several workshops, including: "Reflection Eternal: Hip-Hop, an African Folk Art Birthed in America" at Stradley Ronon, “Mirrors and Distortions” Bristol at Riverside Theater and “Hip-Hop is Black Culture” at the School District of Philadelphia.
