In ponds, pools and rivers, Stay Belows feel the cooling, notice the littering of acorns and leaves upon the surface. We feel the first chill as desire for gloves, hug of sweater. They feel it as a hunger. An instinct for one final feast before taking to the mud for the long sleep of winter.

I'm getting one of those blood tests tomorrow where you can't eat for 12 hours before. I hate getting blood tests at the best of times.

I frequently dream about going back to high school. Sometimes, it's a different school to the one I went to, but mostly its the same school with a makeover. In real life, I did repeat year 12 to improve my university chances (and it worked). But I'm almost 55 and would like it to stop now, please.
