People yelling, "Bad people like this art, therefore the art is bad!" is one of the weakest, worst trends in appreciation and critique of art and I am sadly convinced we will never be free of it.

I am "tinarussell". I don't use Discord much but I'd love to continue to have a way to keep in touch with you!

Weird

Wait, are you serious? I know I haven't watched much Simpsons in like twenty years, but isn't Lisa the one explicitly written to be a left-wing radical?

(I know, right now it's November and the day before some important off-year elections, but you get the idea!)

I see what you mean. To me it comes down to two things: yes I'll vote for the less-bad person when it's time for an election (that's my responsibility as a citizen of a democracy), but we're not perpetually in Oct of an election year. We have time to change/open ppl's minds bsky.app/profile/tina...
Same goes for transphobic governors, FYI.
(Also, for the record, if a Clintonesque Democrat somehow got the nomination for 2028, I'd hold my nose and vote for them in order to stop Trump, but we're not at that terrible juncture yet, nor should we act like we are.)

I really like these! What a fabulous use of color. I love how commanding her poses are, too. It's a great contrast with the casual setting.

(That, and the difference between 2008 Obama and people like Newsom is that Obama supported a half-measure to improve gay people's lives (civil unions) while Newsom et al propose rolling back trans peoples' existing rights in hopes that sacrificing us will bring electoral rewards… which I doubt)
November 3, 2025 at 5:08 AM
Gods I wish e.g. Gavin Newsom were just trashing trans people so he can get elected President and then will actually defend us and make our lives better, but I have my doubts 😒

No, he is best known for his role as Rameses in the 1990s The Tomorrow People serial "The Rameses Connection" 😤

I have two questions. The first is, who gets to decide who the "most prominent Dems" are? It seems to be based largely around media coverage and social-media buzz. Second, how do you propose we Dems "un-nationalize" elections? (I'm genuinely curious)

Harris-Walz ran exactly the sort of economics and “kitchen-table issues” campaign these voices recommend, adamantly avoiding identity politics.

Biden-Harris was a working-and-middle-class-economics-focused administration.

“Ah, but in 2020, Democrats said…”

Yes, that was the election they won.
