A double poem for the two games last week. Given the result on Saturday, I wish I’d gone with a double haiku after Blackburn. UR’s #QPR

The #QPR v Hull match brought all the feels. This poem borrows from Macbeth, Willie Wonka (the Gene Wilder version), and Julius Caesar. Bring Norwich! cc: @qprnewyorkcity.bsky.social

Good first half. One mistake and Hull take advantage. Need to see more ruthlessness in front of goal from Kone and Burrell. Dembélé playing better than he has in a while. Feel like Saito and Smyth could make a real difference around the 65’. And #QPR gotta get that first one.

My wrap up of the #QPR draw with SHU. Borrowed a line from Henry IV here (I’m sure Shakespeare would approve). And apologies in advance to @dbhoops.bsky.social for making you read French again. 😬

My midweek poem for the next @qprnewyorkcity.bsky.social pod. Here’s hoping tomorrow’s match yields a merrier poem for Dun to read. This #QPR has talent. Time to regain belief.

My poem for this week’s @qprnewyorkcity.bsky.social pod. Not about game; it’s about #GoPurpleForLily.

The community that is formed and forged by people who genuinely care for others, by people who are selfless … is beautiful.

It took me a couple of days to write this; needed it to be right. 💜

Got the #QPR rig set up at the fields where my son is playing. Hoping the Burrell goal spurs us forward so the day will be indeed happy for all. #GoPurpleForLily

Even my computer is in on the #GoPurpleForLily campaign. Here’s hoping @qpr.co.uk can make a great show on the pitch tomorrow to make the @qprnewyorkcity.bsky.social event joy-filled! #QPR

What an amazing pod. Jimmy Dunne! The loveliest of lovely stuff. Two Schaefer’s & @andyelrick.bsky.social predicting 3! May the positivity continue. And some of the Vamos #QPR crew were on the #GoPurpleForLily train during this morning’s #SportInEngland prep class. podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/q...

Some of y’all know I’ve been writing a poem after every #QPR match this year. It’s been an enjoyable way for me to be creative and celebrate or commiserate.

Here is today’s installment.

On to Ipswich.

So many ways the recap of today’s game could’ve gone. But I’ll always remember that five day period in January 2000 when #QPR crushed all Welsh dreams. Pharaoh and Joseph immediately sprung to mind. And Andy Sinton was back. Biblical indeed. UR’s

My poem recap of #QPRMIL uses the early modern ballad structure’s rhyme pattern: A, B, C, B. I tried to stick to the iambic structure, but ran out of steam.

Sadly, I had hoped this one to be jaunty.

On to Wednesday. #QPR

This week’s poem is and homage to Keats’ “To Autumn”

Hope you dusted off your Romantic Era lessons. The way Stéphan dusted off his 4-4-2 lessons.

Not sure what’s happening with #QPR, but I’m here for it.

Dear, @qprnewyorkcity.bsky.social & @dbhoops.bsky.social - just a note: the #QPR recap poem this week does require using a French accent for some of the words. I know you’ll be good. What a day.

Today’s poem is titled: “Panier de Coupables”

Enjoy.

Thoughts on #QPR PNE: A Poem

Own goal.
Thank goodness for his return.
From a solstice slumber,
Thus a point did QPR earn.

Working hard for the poet laureate position. I will say, these poems don’t write themselves. Here are my notes that helped me write “An Ode to the NBA East” as a This Week in New Yorking entry. cc: @qprnewyorkcity.bsky.social @dbhoops.bsky.social @ant80.bsky.social @andyelrick.bsky.social

TY to @andyelrick.bsky.social, @dbhoops.bsky.social, & @ant80.bsky.social You guys are a breath of fresh air each week. Really great episode. Even if I didn’t win the award (already added to my CV) or without the poetry bit. Thank you, by the way. And on that call for a poetry segment, I offer this
