I write about Bugs Bunny cartoons and other facets of old animation along with general cinema interests at www.strawberrypenguin.ca . I am based in Atlantic Canada, where it is very cold and very windy.
There's at least a handful of good movies from this century for sure, but they feel so far removed, historically detached and aesthetically operating in an entirely new medium that my brain doesn't even think of them as belonging to the same studio that created Snow White and Pinocchio.

I like to view Fantasia 2000 as a good "series finale" to the Disney theatrical animated canon

I think my idealized post80s Beatles doc would have been Paul, George, Ringo and Martin sitting down together, reengaging with the old work, one thing at a time, and processing and discussing their feelings in the moment. The new Episode 9 focusing on the 1995 footage might have a tiny bit of that?

"Artist approved" docs are usually too easy-going and digestible, and should be at least 25% sadder. Every Beatles doc should be at least 35% sadder.

Those British lads don't talk enough about their feelings. I know they had had a decade to process his loss when making this thing, but someone watching this doc 6+ hours in with zero Beatles knowledge would never guess one of these guys was murdered.
