3rd and 4th grade yep. PACKS OF TODDLERS. Spit slobber pinchy fingers and dirty diapers. Pretty sure most of the world still works this way. Big sister takes care of entire housing project/ neighborhood, parents work/ party . If Nixon hadn't vetoed universal childcare the 70s wouldn't be the same
I mean, there's a million things. My sister started babysitting packs of toddlers when she was 8 or so.

On my first few tours not only did we not have cell phones. No one had a credit card - debit cards didn't exist - I'm not sure if ATM cards did but it wouldn't matter we had no money. We never had more than gas money to get to the first show. I didn't even bring my ID on tour until I was 21.
Ok, now I'm thinking about how wild touring was pre cell phones/smart phones.

I know this is all absurd but how can anyone believe he actually cares about anti-semitism?!

Back in ’64 George Harrison found a pic in which he scowled a V-sign with both hands – and had it printed life-size for his door and also as his year’s Christmas card. Plus it was a movie still and part of a Beatles album in France – and no one noticed the V-signs. Merry Xmas, George – and everyone!

What makes a campus protest an illegal protest? Is any protest that is unsanctioned or banned by the institution illegal? Like is it the same as “unpermitted” ?

Can anyone recommend a resource about media consolidation in the late 20th century?

1 play guitar every day 2 you can’t control other people 3 it’s ok to be alone, especially if you are a writer/musician/ artist 4 do your own work - it’s not selfish - creating culture is a social good - when counter hegemonic it’s one of the most radical things you can do to impact change 5 dance!
Listen to your gut. Every time I ignored it I went down the wrong path for way too long.
people over 30 quote this with some life advice for the rest of us?

My mom and I seemed to know Marianne Faithful was dying yesterday. Anyone else experiencing the psychic collapse of timespace “I’ve been having bad dreams” cue The GoBetweens Palm Sunday (On Board the S.S. Within) “wool in the hold / a blaze in the sky / the water so black/ you could make a shroud”.

If Substack is also bad where should I put my content ? Gxxglx hosts the blogs Amxzxn hosts everything, all of it is using fossil fuel we are renting, how can we own our shit? Even print comes from a digital file - where do we store our data - how to we communicate - network in a security state ?

Since January 20th I have been canceling streaming services, stopped ordering from all corporate retailers in favor of small local businesses, deleted m3tA off my devices & become more mindful of my time /where I put “content”. I’ve been meaning to do this for years. These billionaires can suck it.

While the future of libraries is currently unknown, make sure you have as many library cards as possible and use them regularly. Libraries need active patrons. Books that get checked out are more likely to stay in the library system. Purchase requests also play a role in what books are available.
