Comment: Kamikaze Green Party sacrificed itself for climate goals
There is much talk that climate was not a priority issue in this election. However, much has changed in the political landscape since 2020, writes Cara Augustenborg

Fair play to these folks. Buttimer and O'Callaghan appear to be in a close fight for Coveney seat in Cork South-Central. Buttimer likely to get the edge on FF transfers? All here: www.irishexaminer.com/news/munster...

I spent last weekend at the British Library's excellent 'Irish Writers Weekend'.

I wrote this about Ireland's current cultural moment, the nature of coincidence, and what "progress" might really mean.

Séamas O'Reilly: How the Irish have come to rule pop culture — and push for progress
“We flagellate ourselves too much in Ireland” said Donal Ryan at one of the talks, when the subject of the mother and baby homes came up. “But we congratulate ourselves a lot too” replied Caoilinn Hug...

This is interesting. Big discrepancy between 25-34s and 18-24s on SF v FF/FG. Housing aspiration has SF way out in front among former but FF/FG still has sway with latter. Also Soc Dems have a big role to play in future, if younger voters stick with them.

Our writer Colin Sheridan was a peacekeeper in Lebanon so his views on how to help returning peacekeepers should be considered worthy: www.irishexaminer.com/opinion/comm...
Colin Sheridan: Support for our Defence Forces troops needs to be quiet and consistent, not quick for clicks
After the trauma they endured, the returning soldiers need proper, and private, support from the Defence Forces, not to be paraded out to provide photo ops for grinning politicians
