There are tons of tools for facilitating solo play, but I knew if I looked into them I'd spend too much time looking for the "best ones" so if I'm unsure about something I frame a question and roll high/low on a d6 (follow-up questions as necessary).

I recommend it! I'd start with the easiest possible setup for you (in my case that was a loose stack of computer paper, the adventure module and rules open in tabs on my computer, and a dice-roller app on my phone) and just play for an hour to see if you enjoy it.

I was reading and enjoying Douglas Adams at close to that same age and went on to spend my high school years trying to write dry authorial interjections in my English essays, so I think the problem with Lewis reminding me of his presence is that I just didn't think he was very good company.

I've read several people besides you say that Narnia doesn't condescend to children. And in a way I agree, but also as a ~2nd grader I remember feeling strongly that the narrator was annoying for interrupting the story to talk to me as if I was a baby.

I can believe it, because they let Mamoa do a little bit of Polynesian warrior-king stuff in SEE and the amount of passion he throws into it is almost jarring compared to the rest of the show.

One of the things I find odd about how fans (and frequently Martin himself) describe ASoIaF is that it is also full of heightened glamor! The books are full of bright colors, gems, fabrics, smells, banners, heraldry, impossible castles, people fighting in bedazzled parade armor

If it helps, I set this up to be as quick-start, no-thoughts as possible: an ok module, computer paper, and OSE open on my web browser. If I plan an RPG game too much it tends to never actually happen.

Trigg really should've gotten her a wedding gift (which would become her property even if they separate) but he spent all his GP on the feast and their farmhouse so he's broke again. Life is a gamble as an adventurer's wife!

Wedding bands have not caught on amongst the commoners at this time.

The Forgotten Realms seems like a pretty sexually liberated place so the first year probably counts as a trial marriage wherein either member of the couple can easily have it annulled. After that Emelda has fewer options but she gets to keep the contents of her wedding chest no matter what.
