Hi! I'm Tommy. I'm a musician, producer, DJ, and a photographer, among some other hobbies! One of those hobbies is boosting a lot of cool art I find on here.

If you like what I do, please consider supporting me by buying my music or getting me something from my Throne wishlist!

this obviously needs just a little tweaking since the tempo range and reset tempo buttons don't line up very well but otherwise I think this is pretty cool

made this sci-fi looking design and used Kyoung-Sik Choi's photograph of the Orion Nebula

I really like the simplicity of the picture, it's not very "busy", just a single object of focus. searching for "orion nebula" gives a lot of pictures where the photo is just the entire nebula, no surroundings
the turntable with the overlay applied - the overlay is decorated with sci-fi looking markings around all the buttons and other elements, and there is a picture of the M42 Orion Nebula on the overlay which sits below all the elements of the turntable. at the top right are the credits for the designer (myself) and the taker of the Orion Nebula picture. there is a place for a spare headshell next to the credits texts. at the top left of the turntable is a space for a 45rpm adapter, outlined with a blue stripe pattern and curved text around it reads "45 ADAPTER" a close-up of the bottom left corner of the turntable, the start/stop and speed selector buttons are outlined with blue stripes. the speed selector has "78RPM" written below it and there is a graphic connecting the two buttons, indicating one can get 78rpm mode by pushing both of them. the on/off switch has the area between the switch and the platter outlined and there is a red stripe pattern between them and next to that it reads "WARNING" in big red letters. the platter is surrounded by small blue arrows that go clockwise around the platter a close-up of the bottom right corner of the turntable. there is a tempo slider which has been decorated with a scale that goes from "min" to "zero" to "max", there is a gradient stripe pattern below the text that goes from blue at the top to red at the bottom. there are two buttons, "tempo reset" and "range" which don't quite line up, but they're both outlined with the same blue stripe pattern used elsewhere. three LEDs, one next to the tempo slider reads "NORMAL SPEED" and is lit up, indicating the turntable isn't spinning slower or faster than normal. above the "range" button are two LEDs reading "8%" and "16%" indicating the tempo slider's range a look at the front of the turntable, it reads "audio technica LP120XUSB" in a sci-fi font (Orbitron)

oh so they tell you that downloading one stock photo is £0.08

...except it's really not, you buy 24 hours of access to their library for £5 and you can download 100 pictures in that 24 hours

this is now a public shaming, get your head out of your ass publicdomainpictures.net
a button that reads "premium download, 6000x6000px, 2.9MB, £0.04 - £0.08" premium membership options on their website: 1 year access for a one off payment of £75 where you get 100 images a month. "best value" annually billed subscription for £50 where you get 100 images a month. 30 days access for a one off payment of £8 where you get 100 images. "most popular" monthly billed subscription for £6.50 where you get 100 images a month, this one has a deal attached to it where the first month is £3. 24 hours access one off payment for £5 where you get 100 images

#Takeovertober Day 8: Body Hopping

Rabbit revenge

I remember space engine used to be free to use a couple of years back, but if it's evolved since then then I think 29€ for the base game is a completely fair cop. the pro dlc gives you some extra camera tools and the license to use stuff from the game for personal commercial purposes
tommyswanson.fi
new scope creep unlocked:

I want to have a "stars in space" background for this design (and more designs/music videos/whatever in the future!) so I want to get Space Engine and its Pro DLC so I can get good creation tools

problem is that the software with the pro DLC costs a total of 97€ lol

alright, so you know cathode ray tubes? they require a vacuum inside the tube to work

so what if we left just a little bit of air in there? what would that look like? a black dot on the screen? bouncing around as the electrons hit it? maybe a fine mist instead??
tommyswanson.fi
highly considering investing 150€ into a vacuum desoldering station. it'd probably pay for itself after a couple of repairs because the only reason why I fucked up the two PS5 controllers I tried to fix is because I couldn't get the sticks desoldered properly

I have managed to find an investor for the TWO (not one!) Midas Venice 320 mixing consoles. I thought the seller wanted 200€ for one, but no, that's the total for both of them

my investor and I will both be putting 100€ towards the project and split the profits 50/50

iterating on the design is gonna be super costly,,, one overlay (two A3s) now costs 4€ instead of 2€ because I need to see how the color turns out

I suspect I'll be iterating every design 2-3 times, then I'll need to get the actual single sheet A2 overlays for 10€ per piece plus shipping
tommyswanson.fi
okay I wrestled my way through with gimp's text curving and got the first draft of the design for the AT-LP120XUSB done and ready to print

...but the library closed 5 minutes ago 😭

yeah decentralization is cool, a compromise would probably be something like a website that just has a list of links to blogs. but people don't really want to go out of their way to host blogs anymore, so if we're dropping the monetization aspect, I guess bsky lists would be a good alternative
tommyswanson.fi
I mean sure but having these easily discoverable clubs on a respected digital music marketplace all in one place would be great for discovery which would directly translate to more sales. a blog would be a bit more of a pain because then you'd have to go to a separate websites for everything

Colour Commission for Lexi! Featuring two drones having a little go at it while Alexis takes notes.
A digital illustration featuring two people anthros (a bunny and a Deer) dressed in latex gear.

The Bunny is using a large dildo and is fucking the deer.

In the background a third person, a sheep anthro (alexis) is watching with a smirk and taking notes.
