I think for a real second the US right had annexed the narrative on political violence. State violence was okay, retaliation was criminal. But they dialled the Kirk worship so hard that anyone who wasn't already a true believer bounced off. Kirk's death now is just Harambe Mk II

Remember, these regime-changers *do not* care about democracy. This is pure PR narrative. The US gladly coups democratically elected leaders (Mosaddegh, Lumumba, Allende, etc), and gladly props up actual autocracies (Saudi, Jordan, Egypt, etc) if it serves their interests.
