Really respect y'all for this, surely not a small decision to make. As one of the Monster Hunter fans that was pretty bummed about the Superdrop, I'm excited for what a second take might bring!

Not sure these would be my absolute top picks, but Abzan Devotee stuck with me for art and Bounce Off for flavor text.

Totally understand, and I really just genuinely wanted to learn why it evoked that reaction, because I had thought our review was largely celebrating it for its uniqueness rather than wishing it was something different! Appreciate the chat about it 😄

I feel that. For me, the overall review reads as saying "I get what it's doing, I like what it's doing, but also its commitment to wanting to do that can still cause some problems here and there." So I didn't take those as incongruous thoughts, but it's a fair point!

Genuinely curious to hear why that sentence evokes that reaction for you? To me it's just saying something along the lines of: "As long as you understand what this game is trying to do/wants to be, rather than trying to fit it into a preconceived box based on other racers, yada yada yada"

I imagine they'd step in if they felt people were actively trying to undermine the system, but on paper yes, the messaging they've put out in the past has been "well this is just what people nominated, so it's not on us!"

Hell yeah.

One reason this became a pet card is because it's one of the Mirrodin block cards that had specific tokens commissioned for it but never printed, so this wonderfully weird pinchy boy (notably not an artifact itself) does not actually exist in paper:

7 mana is way too much, but “field of the dead for all player’s treasures” is my misleading elevator pitch lol

This is my "artifact token hate" pet card. I love it an irrational amount.

Wildest shit I saw while at PC Gamer was a comment on @tjcwilde.bsky.social's very reasonable "maybe lets not use that term" op-ed, and one reply was like "um actually, Master Race is a reference to Nietzsche's Übermensch, which predates the nazis, so it isn't related at all idiot." Unhinged stuff.

I was in New York for a wedding recently and ate at one of those! Little box of gnocchi at midnight after a long day of travel was truly revitalizing.

For what it's worth, a recent Command Zone ep mentioned that Maro specifically addressed this card, explicitly saying mono-white could have extra combat effects within the color pie, so it is not incongruous with their current hybrid philosophy.

Here's the relevant bit: youtu.be/l-fyZMOHJsU?...

Is this cheating?

You know, I've been looking for the right Bracket 1 deck idea for a while now, and I think I finally found it.

I’m not sure it will ultimately matter a lot to them, but it does matter a lot to us.

Nintendo has been particularly bad about stuff like this in recent years - the Legends: Z-A embargo said you couldn’t show WEEDLE despite them randomly being everywhere early on and Beedril already being announced.

Extra frustrating given the entire game had leaked before codes were even sent out 🙃

Could also be they are just covering their backs against shenanigans with Werewolf Pack Leader and stuff like Maskwood Nexus, since that does provide a relatively easy way to remove "Human" as a type specifically (and even gives Trample).
