Join me in asking the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board to protect our pensions and the climate and stop investing in oil, gas, coal and pipelines. A legal case is already underway. It’s time to stop investing in fossil fuels and recommit to net-zero. win.newmode.net/shiftaction/...

Yep, you heard that right... Republican lawmakers are complaining that Canada is ruining their summer.

Instead of blaming arson and poor forest management, let's address the elephant in the room: the FOSSIL FUEL INDUSTRY.

1. Starmer was warned and warned that his benefits cuts were not just cruel and unfair, but a political disaster. He dismissed the warnings, even this week, as no more than "noises off". Now, as the disaster materialises, he's desperately backtracking.
Here's an idea: how about listening? 🧵

NEW: Palestine Action respond to news they will become proscribed.

“This is an unhinged reaction to a non-violent action spraying paint in protest the UK Government arming Israel... The real crime here is not red paint being sprayed on these war planes, but the war crimes that have been enabled.”

Emissions are not distributed equally. Just 5% of power plants generate 75% of power sector emissions; 12% of people consume half the beef produced; 2% of aviation emissions come from the 0.003% who are (private jet users; etc.

What a great opportunity for targeted reductions!
Ultra-frequent flyers make up a tiny proportion of the UK population. Half of people in the UK will not step foot on a plane each year - while just 3% of people take more than six trips by plane a year. ✈️ 2/5

Oh good god. This is getting scarier by the minute… every time Trump - or one of his team - speaks, the sense of dread intensifies. Because the gulf between their wildly delusional macho posturing and the deeply complex and precarious reality of the politics of the Middle East could bury us all.

Remember the fossil fuel industry LIES about
❌emissions👇
❌demand
❌costs
❌reserves
❌liabilities

It makes 0️⃣ sense to invest more. Canada needs to uphold the Species at Risk LAWS by expecting the fossil fuel industry to clean up and close sites.

Why do so many feel like they've fallen behind?

It's not because of immigrants, trans people, DEI, the “deep state,” or any other bogeyman trotted out by the GOP.

It's because big corporations and billionaires have rigged markets and siphoned off most of the economy's gains.

There is no justification whatsoever for the US or UK to provide any support, material or diplomatic, for Israel's attack on Iran. It is a war of aggression, clearly contrary to international law.

Yes, what could possibly go wrong with Western military aggression forcing regime change in Iran? After all, it worked out so well there in 1953, with the glorious results we've seen ever since. As it did later in Afghanistan, Iraq and Libya.
Those who do not learn from history ...
Hmm, whats bad about freeing iranian people of the fundamentalist, fascist government suppressing women, queers, free thinking and freedom. just to give another viewpoint here...
