Back when I watched Sesame Street, you could be in a current-day, late-90s street scene one moment and suddenly transition into a season 1 Bert & Ernie the next.

What a time to grow up in.

This clip I encountered after posting this is a perfect example of what I mean, actually.

The sudden, overdramatic mood shifts... The extended focus on such a specific, seemingly pointless subject... The stupidly repetitive, simplistic lyrics... The constant PAIN on display... It all just CLICKS.

"Elio" is definitely a flawed movie. I think everything that can be said about it, good and bad, has been said by now.

But I don't think I will ever be convinced that this film isn't BEAUTIFUL in terms of its lighting, coloring, atmosphere, and sound mixing.
