I wrote this article 10 years ago as a bit of a vent about Firefox; it did Some Numbers at the time because the pain of the Australis redesign was pretty fresh, so it resonated with a lot of people (& annoyed others).

10 years later & I still feel same on update days

"the only way to convince you that yours kids are safe in Roblox is to make you sign an NDA and tell you about all the secret surveillance your children are under when they play this game" is not very convincing to me

Ugh, Elasticsearch sending unsolicited commercial email to shill AI products. Have never touched their products so they clearly bought my email address from a list.

I know everyone does this now but it's still just gross to see

housing crisis in Australia is at the stage where we are just selling blocks of land next at airports next to runways so people can build their dream "hangar style home"?

Dropbox AI person describes a software product future that sounds unbearably awful to me, a person that wants to have buttons stay in the same place they were the last time I clicked them.

But I guess interfaces changing minute-to-minute is the new bold future we'll get foisted upon us

@davidgerard.co.uk seeing a lot of rhetoric that "actually, BTC [and ETH] are different to all these other shitcoins" is wearying; do you have something written about this, because I am trying shitposting as a strategy to respond but I'm sure there's something better you have already done

is it a signal that the higher-quality email spam I get is shifting from "AI" to "quantum"

(also since when did The Economist start sending spam? as far as I can tell this is a legit email from them but I've never had any actual relationship with them - they've bought my email address somewhere)
