This isn't the same kind of shutdown as any of the government shutdowns that came before this one.

Government shut down to stop Republicans from ripping a trillion dollars out of Medicare and Medicaid and Affordable Care. Nothing comes even remotely close to this for previous shutdowns.

White House and DHS cancelling a $11b payment in disaster-relief funds meant to reimburse states that have already had to bear the brunt of recovery — from NC to TX.

It becomes an IOU for next year, reducing FEMA's already diminished $26.5b by nearly half. We'll have only $15.5b until Sept. 2026.
