I'm sorry, but if you're going to be good at music PR you have to have a J in your name, the more the better.

And this is Batman's Aff His Nut by Robert Florence, which, in my opinion, is easily the greatest Scottish poem ever written about Batman...
Batman’s aff his nut
Have you seen the way he cuts aboot
Dressed up as a mad fuckin bat
Batterin guys
I was lit at:
“Mate, I’m worried aboot ye
I know your ma and da died
But everybody’s ma and da dies
And we’re no aw runnin aboot
Hookin muggers and
Kickin psychopaths in the baws.”
And that was when Batman went
“Aye, but do ye ever feel like it?
Do you ever look at the world and feel like it?
Like having a big mad base under your hoose?
Do you ever feel like drivin a big mad motor
that turns intae a tank?
And leatherin fuck oot of guys aw night?
Scarin the fuckin shite oot of them?”
And that’s when I was lit at:
“Aye. Fuck it. Ah dae.”
And that’s the Secret Origin of Robin
And everyone else.

Matt has a new solo album on sale today, out via the wonderful Wayside & Woodland label.

“…grainy, metallic drones, stretched and vaporised Youtube rips of bird sounds and missile launches, plus minimal bleeps, tones and the occasional thudding bass hit”

Enjoy!

Loved reading this book for all the reasons already mentioned in comments, and most of all TOM’S DAD’S RANDOM INTERJECTIONS which had me proper belly laughing.

All I have left of the 1000s of books I bought from my ex-publisher's warehouse are about 200 copies of Ring The Hill. I'd *love* to get them to good homes this week.

If you're in the UK & you'd like one, for the price of your choice (any price!), pls email me your address at [email protected].

I endorse this so much. A song can be great in many ways just on its own terms, but don't cheat yourself of the extra power a song can gain from the context of the album it's on - or the way the whole can be more than the sum of its parts.
