I feel like a state like CA could buy a patent for one of these drugs, mass produce it and put everyone with prediabetes (pretty much the entire middle-aged population) on it and save massively on healthcare costs. A lot of fast food joints would go out of business but I think we can live with that.

Just put everyone on Ozempic. It appears to have better outcomes for literally everything.
