I don't mean their LLMs but their machine translation and voice recognition, which back then (before the big AI boom but after AI had become a big research front) they were trying to push pretty hard.

I hate to play devil's advocate here but if you have the option to quit using Meta's products and instead you can use something else, then it's not a monopoly.
For Facebook there's a ton of other options.
For Instagram there's TikTok, YouTube Shorts, etc.
For WhatsApp there's Signal
Etc.
