It was maybe when I tried to read then watch Pride and Prejudice? when I learned the word 'estate' means very very different things in that context and in our own HK context. Estate is the word that we use for 屋村 but it is also so different and so much more.

it's heartwarming for a few moments until you realize again the scale of the disaster, how many fuckups had to happen & be ignored/suppressed to get here, & fully anticipating HKgov to somehow make *everything worse, somehow* in the wake of this & at that point you are, again, livid.

Yeah and similarly that nice feeling and nostalgia you get when you see HKers helping each other out but that feels wrong because you should just wish that shitty things just shouldn't happen in the first place I dunno just god I dunno.

So yeah. I dunno who or what to blame with my tiny smooth brain but I get that people want to resist because that's what we've been doing. That in the current political climate it feels dangerous to even say that you've lost faith in systems and institutions so you just identify with the bamboo.

I personally don't think we should always just resist to just resist. But we've been conditioned to. We've learned that time and again if we didn't, only more harm would come. Beating will not stop until morale improves or something.

of the idea that in this city we call home it should be illegal to compromise the safety of people's homes. But of the interest of people with money and power to gain yet more of them.
So you resist their decision, whatever that decision is. And honestly personally I share that urge to resist.
