I despise Hegseth, but people need to remember that the United States is not a party to the Rome Statute. No U.S. officials are going to be handed over to the International Criminal Court, and anyone who did assist with any such extradition to the Hague would be violating our own laws.

Kelly: He runs around on stage talking about lethality and the warrior ethos.. That’s not the message that should be coming from the Secretary of Defense… He runs around on a stage like he’s a 12 year old playing army. It’s embarrassing.

A prize for whomever asks this flag bearer for “free speech” to specify *exactly how many times per calendar year* any members of the public (and of affected professions) may speak publicly about the impact of his policies on people they care for, before being rudely dismissed as “frequent flyers” 🏆
In March this year I emailed Peggy Burrows to voice my support for her public stance re the school lunch disgrace. I noted the courage it takes as a Principal to speak up.
Her lovely reply made me tear up. She takes her role as a strong advocate for her students and their whānau deeply seriously.
Seymour labels principal at centre of mouldy school lunches a media 'frequent flyer'
The principal has hit back saying the food is delivered daily and leftovers removed.

Sure, they've made an environmentally catastrophic mass hallucination disinformation plagiarism Clippy that will destabilize the world, but also their other goal is to replace human workers entirely and let us humans starve. A boycott of AI is the most important boycott of your entire life.
"All of this falls apart if humans don't adopt the tech. This is why you've seen Meta cram its lame chatbots into WhatsApp and Instagram. This is why Notepad and Paint now have useless Copilot buttons on Windows. This is why Google Gemini wants to "help you" read and reply to your emails."
Analysis: OpenAI is a loss-making machine, how can it survive?
Don't call it a bubble! Loss-making monster OpenAI is on the hook for $1.4 trillion (with a T) in compute commitments. How can this go on?

It irks me that we have picked up the contagion of COVID denialism and anti-vax sentiment from the States. Most people went through the lockdowns with a certain amount of grace and humour. I was pleased to be part of a community that cared.

That's right! They were repatriation flights, I had forgotten that. Because Lufthansa must do codeshares with more local companies, surely
I remember that, it was significant because I don’t think that carrier had ever flown to New Zealand, they repatriated all the German tourists who were stuck here when flights ceased to exist. It was certainly a time! (I do miss the lack of traffic though!)

Thanks, Moore Wilson’s, for the kind offer to fund Russian bombs and bullets used for killing Ukrainian children, but I’ll pass, thanks…

Interesting to see NZ businesses happy to support this type of thing.

I don't know if it's "charming" exactly but I'll always remember the last Lufthansa flight circling over Auckland to say goodbye after we closed our borders, and not knowing when they'd be back, but knowing it was the right thing to do

Since Stephen Miller is in the midst of another of his Aryans-only trantrums, we should note that his family are 20th century immigrants from the shtetl of Antopol (Антопаль) then in the Hrodna gubernia of Russia. Applying his immigration rules, they would all have perished in the Holocaust.

If my nephew’s ideas on immigration had been in force a century ago, our family would have been wiped out.
