E: It’s looking dark, you may want to check the weather forecast.
Me: it doesn’t matter, it will rain whenever I go out.

Great photo of Perec and his cat. I know it from the cover of David Bellos’ excellent biography ’Georges Perec: A Life in Words’ #booksky #photography
In trying to answer the question, "What is your favourite photo of a novelist with a cat?" I have probably forgotten some absolute crackers but right now the one that immediately comes to mind is this one of Georges Perec and Duchat, taken by Anne de Brunhoff in 1978.

I’m enjoying @briteeyedviolet.bsky.social’s enjoyment of this joke.
Scientists recently combined the DNA of a cheetah with the DNA of a crab.
Things went sideways real fast.

I wish multituberculates were still around. They were one of the longest-lived mammal groups, and their fossil record can tell us a great deal about how ancient beasts evolved parental care.

From my back catalog at Smithsonian.

Tom Stoppard is one of my favourite writers. This is a fascinating read. Thank you for sharing @mmasnick.bsky.social.
Have seen a few people passing around this story by Tom Stoppard from just last year, talking about how he learned he was Jewish and also much about his family history, and it's quite a read. He really knew how to write. www.huntingtontheatre.org/2024/09/11/t...
