I was born in 1992 and have never had a stable job, just three temporary ones all lasting less than half a year. And I have a graduate degree and know four languages!

What are they going to do with that money if no one can afford to make things or offer services for them?

my last phone was a 20 euro candybar Nokia phone bought from a tiny store at the central market in Riga. Unfortunately it no longer charges properly either

Do you never add games to your wishlist that are already released?

Some are more survivable than other ones.

In some, like Singapore, a part of the population can have some degree of a normal life (as much as governmental repression allows), but they are still in many ways bad places to be
November 29, 2025 at 4:10 AM
Plenty of degrees between authoritarian states, too.

Franco's Spain, Yugoslavia, Singapore are all distinct, but were or are still clearly authoritarian in meaningful ways

Distorting history is basically all that present-day communists have left aside from criticizing governments and the far-right in ways that liberals and liberal socialists can do just as well, if not better
November 29, 2025 at 3:48 AM
Because communism isn't really an issue anymore the way it was until the 90s. Even if people online, or far-righters offline, would like it to be different.

Communism is basically history, since surviving communist regimes try nothing meaningfully different from generic dictatorships anymore.

It's what happens when you are detached from people, and don't want to change your views even when they seem to cause a horrible amount of suffering, or at least rethink them.

Both ended up being genocidal, but for regimes like e.g. Stalinist Russia it wasn't their goal, more something they were willing to accept or do as a means to an end. Whereas for Nazis the genocides were the end, and you can see also that if you look at how many people Nazis killed in a shorter time

if you're talking to people online, then tankies can really be fascists with a red paint, or come across as such. Similar if you asked devoted party members of either side.

But in practice I think fascists is more genocidal, and more inherently so.

Being in opposition doesn't mean you exist just to oppose them.
November 29, 2025 at 3:33 AM
Why would they *not* purchase during the sales? When else would you?
November 29, 2025 at 3:26 AM
Oh yeah that would've been much clearer to me
November 29, 2025 at 3:10 AM
yeah, fungi!
November 28, 2025 at 12:35 AM
ending up with someone by accident that I didn't even mean to end up with because I was planning to avoid the whole romance was the best thing that happened to me

anyway, I hope it goes well! there's a lot that happens in later years, although some of the worst can be avoided in the right circumstances
November 28, 2025 at 12:23 AM
I can have an unusually good memory for this but even then I started writing down things I remembered so I can write about them in a fanfic

it's been 3.5 months since I last played it and it still feels so raw in my mind
November 28, 2025 at 12:22 AM
fooled me... I probably wouldn't have picked it up otherwise 😅

but that's what made it the deepest experience I ever had with a game!
November 28, 2025 at 12:19 AM
Oh, you went into Command to help with deliveries and logistics?
November 28, 2025 at 12:11 AM
the worst thing is that by the way that depending on how your first playthrough went, saving her won't make everything better. Some things might even cause you anguish! which is honestly such a rare thing and makes it all so real
November 28, 2025 at 12:08 AM
oh yeah I am a big fan of the card game, I even want to order the physical one because I just like it that much. Both the cards and the often really amazing images, but also the gameplay itself.
November 28, 2025 at 12:08 AM
I was going to reply that in the latter it's other characters make choices about you as much as you do about them! it's the most lively and vibrant visual novel-type of game I have ever come across.

But I can also relate to feeling like a co-writer
November 28, 2025 at 12:06 AM
it's often probably mostly a power fantasy, although *sometimes* stories engage with it in a more interesting way
