Charting how UK election results from 1918 to the present day would have changed if seats were decided by who got the most votes at a regional level, like the US electoral college.

Just wanted to expand on a couple of things in the explainer thread ahead of the 1922 map. First, nomenclature. As I said in the thread, I'm calling the main areas used in the maps "counties" for simplicities sake. I've decided that, rather than posting each county individually or all in one thread,
Hello all, have you ever wondered what it would be like if UK Prime Ministers were decided in a US-style electoral college system? No? Well, I've made an account for it anyway, aiming to cover every election from 1918 to 2024.

As for the most pertinent question, just why the hell am I doing this?
United Kingdom, 1931

National government majority of 569

In reality, the government had a majority of 495, with the Conservatives alone having a majority of 325

Antrim, Armagh, and Down were once again all uncontested UUP wins, so we've got two breakdowns.

Messed with the colours again. Decided I did want a single National colour after all, so opted to use the blue-purple colouring of the Unionist Party in Scotland instead of the National Labour green.

Have decided to change how I colour the counties that the Nationals win, they'll now be coloured according to the National party with the most votes. Felt like the sea of green was giving off the wrong impression of the National government's composition

The actual 1931 breakdown thread

See quoted tweet for historical context. What this all means is that 1931 is a particularly tricky election to present in the format of this project, but I think (hope) I've found the right way.
The 1931 election breakdown thread

Okay, this one is going to need a bit of a preamble (N.B. a lot of this is new to me, so I will probably get some details wrong)

Since the 1929 election, the UK had a minority Labour government led by Ramsay MacDonald with parliamentary support from the Liberals.

I'm always open to feedback, but do bear in mind that making these does take up a fair amount of my time and I am doing it purely as a hobby, not as a job

Just a brief explainer for why the swing figure might seem a bit counter intuitive in places where one of the parties in the top two has changed since the previous election
It's 'cos the Liberals didn't stand in Gwent in 1924, so technically they've got a larger vote increase of 24.1%

Going to take a slightly different approach to this one, posting the breakdowns *before* posting the final map (just to add a bit of suspense to this 96 year old election you can google the results of)
