fun fact: remember the two little vampire teeth on the bottom of micro-usb ports? (aka retention springs)

i got around the corroded power connector issue (which had no continuity) by soldering in some new wires and sticking that directly into the motherboard.
it is electrically sound according to my multimeter, but it still won’t boot. there’s some other mystery issue

PSA for when taking apart any nintendo consoles: while they have + shaped screws, they are *not* the phillips screws that you'll be used to if you're from outside japan. they're a different standard and you're very likely to strip them if you aren't careful with a phillips driver

never give up. there's always a better way (this method also has the advantage that it works to find the neighborhood for points outside the boundary of the existing square which will be necessary for the next step)
