well, they’re still there in usb-c ports, they were just moved to the inside of the port, giving it the satisfying *snap* when plugging/unplugging a device. they’re much better!

the quirky thing is that cathode ray tubes do pretty much the opposite thing - brightness changes when the voltage is too low are barely noticeable, and the curve is reversed
