I don’t care for the traditional effects of “cursed” items in D&D. I find them too ham-fisted with an obvious penalty.
I introduced my first cursed item in a one-shot recently; an amulet of defense that makes everyone (within 30’) aware that the bearer is in possession of a stolen item.

I regularly remind my D&D players of the 2:3 “golden number” for average difficulty odds (1:1 is hard, 3:4 is easy); the fundamental flaw of the D20 system treating Armor Class and monster levels/CRs as absolute when they must always be relative to the PCs’ by 3 to 4 degrees for this reason.
Remembering the time GCYoshi told me his mantra for luck-based games: Even if you have 50:50 results, your brain will always weigh negative outcomes heavier. It'll feel 30:70
