every "peace princess" in Gundam owes a massive debt to Relena. Relena took Sayla, redid her in a way that was interesting (as opposed to Zechs who was a largely uninteresting take on Char. Sorry Zechs)

And she became the new blueprint. she is SUPER significant.

Treize was more "what if Gihren was half as more competent and didn't have Kycilla trying to stab him in the back" but I can see the Char throughline

insert jokes or whatever you want to about Western audiences only enjoying shooty blasty bang bang stories but I think beyond the obvious misogyny, when had they ever seen a character who's entire role in the plot was trying to stop the war and was dedicated to it body and soul

IMO she was also a character that on first impression was a little hard to digest, especially for mainstream Western audiences who, odds are, probably hadn't had much exposure to a character or character archetype like her

glad to hear it eventually does, I was wondering if there would be stages like that
