i think it's kinda fun to look at the more recent lineup of illustrations in my portfolio and then look at the lineup of pieces from a few years ago and see how much i started leaning into everything having a Dark Crustiness to it

to be fair i like both approaches, but i've gotten a lot bolder with the presentation and atmosphere of my more recent stuff which is more true to my interests and less "plain" looking. so i am definitely biased towards the new stuff even beyond my technical skill having improved

lately my brain has been stuck in a loop of:

- i should record all my art processes nowadays
- but i hate the feeling of being watched when i draw
- but it'd also be nice to have recordings
- but why should i have to change how i do things
- but it'd be upsetting if ppl assumed my work wasn't legit

and i get pissed thinking about how artists have to be on the defense now because of AI grifter bullshit and a ton of people who are a little too eager to play armchair detective and accuse artists based on nothing.. so then i'm like "well fuck you i refuse to change my ways just because of that!"

i have tried many, many times to be one of those artists who records timelapses and posts speedpaints but it's something i can never really fully commit to because i just don't like being observed. i crawl out of my shadowy hole with a completed drawing every few days and that's how i like it

Finally: AI cannot do your job, but an AI salesman can 100% convince your boss to fire you and replace you with an AI that can't do your job, and when the bubble bursts, the money-hemorrhaging "foundation models" will be shut off and we'll lose the AI that can't do your job, and you will be long gone, retrained or retired or "discouraged" and out of the labor market, and no one will do your job. AI is the asbestos we are shoveling into the walls of our society and our descendants will be digging it out for generations:
