Remember, Tolkien didn't start working on "The Hobbit" until he was 41 years old. It started as tales for his children that took over 4 years to complete, and he finally published it at the age of 45.

It is never too late to start working on something that truly calls to you.

Embrace your passion.

Like, the system is "supposed" to get better. But what if it just doesn't and we're stuck with president Trome until 2431?
I've seen this on Bluesky and had to try it myself. The image below was the response to the prompt: "Show me a diagram of the US presidents since Herbert Hoover, with their names and years in office under their photos" Bravo, OpenAI, bravo.

I'm attending @scbwi.bsky.social's Summer Conference this week and this panel on #UnBanningBooks was excellent. Libraries are our frontline of free speech and democracy and need to be protected.
And we're underway with our UNBanning Books: Bold Creators Take a Stand panel about the plight of children's book creators and their books amid the bans. Go to scbwi.org to register and join this free panel that's open to the public. This panel will be available for free on SCBWI's YouTube site.

Fantastic Four is so good, Jess is gonna have to chisel this goofy grin off my face. When all the AICN guys were screaming for Peyton Reed to make an FF movie with a 60s aesthetic, this was the movie we were daydreaming about. FF, Kirby, and hell, retrofuturism fans, are all gonna lose their minds.

Those of us who survive this dark era will carry stories, songs, and the fight forward. Disability justice is an unending movement. Caring for each other will never stop being part of our base instinct, our reason for being, no matter how much their greed tries to stamp it out.

Happy 5th birthday to this thread and happy 6th birthday to the only cat in the world who could tame a dogs-only person like me.

We don’t know her exact bday—the vet estimated from her scar that she was caught, spayed and released as a kitten spring/summer 2019, so we picked April 1 as a birthday.
This is Cinder. I’m not a cat person. It’s taken months for us to get this close to each other.

She shows up for breakfast and dinner now (which I started providing for her?) and meows at me in the afternoon until I come to watch her roll.

I’m not sure how she’s doing this.

Ping-pong paddle signage won’t beat back the techno-fascist revolution. To fight Musk’s vision, we need something deeper—solidarity, mutual aid, and a refusal to abandon each other. My latest:
The Anti-Empathy Revolution of Elon Musk
Musk views empathy as a “bug” that threatens his political agenda. This framing is instructive.

For those supporting this obscene violation of due process and expansion of governmental overreach to detain and deport legal residents without due process, please research authoritarian regimes.

Today they'll use it against a group you don't like, but it will be turned on you tomorrow.

Still shocked by the recent #Seahawks news. Loved what Geno, Metcalf, and especially Lockette gave us. BUT, Schneider has put our team in an INCREDIBLE position for the draft and free agency. I'm seeing the silver lining and I'm here for it! #Gohawks

Finishing our Oscars watch through today before the awards show tomorrow, A Complete Unknown is a masterful piece of filmmaking. James Mangold really put together a special film here.

For the @latimes.com, I wrote about an aspect of NICKEL BOYS that hasn't received nearly enough attention: its terrific screenplay. I sat down with RaMell Ross to break down three key scenes, discussing how each evolved from script to screen. (He also shared some cool behind-the-scenes tidbits.)
RaMell Ross takes us inside the pages of the 'Nickel Boys' script
Much has been made of the film's first-person POV. But let's not overlook the dazzling, emotional and now Oscar-nominated script.

These are a few of my favorite things #seahawks #gbbo
While there are a lot of trade rumors going around.

It seems that #Seahawks DK Metcalf is being human and having fun at the Great American Baking Show.

Looks like DK couldn't care less about y'all trade rumors and just doing his thing.

Feel pretty proud of my sandwich skills:
I spent one of our snow days earlier this week cooking a ton of soup for the next few weeks (tomato, butternut squash, and leek) and this afternoon, as more snow fell, Vasant warmed some up and made a grilled sweet onion, chèvre, and comté sandwich to split. Coziest afternoon work session ever.

I didn’t just predict the evisceration of diversity initiatives; I also wrote the counter-narrative. If the end of DEI is making you mad, then the revival of integration will make you fight.
