Final Fantasy was a dope set with a lot of niche tools that are really just fun-ofs. Lightning, Sephiroth, etc. and only the one staple.

As for the UB? I'm not knowledgeable about the franchises and that makes it easier for me to stomach sometimes. They both don't egregiously violate the rules established in Universes Within sets so they feel like uncanny valley Universe Within sets to me with too many legends

Personal enjoyment? EoE, TDS, Drift, Avatar, FF.

Edge was the only Universe Within set I felt didn't suffer from the lack of a block structure. Aetherdrift and Tarkir felt like they could've used another set (maybe two for Tarkir. One set for wedges/shards is just hard to feel I'm getting enough)

If you were in my position, would you offer them to borrow decks so they can be on same power level as the rest of the players? I'd like to support the next generation so my LGS scene survives, but I'm a little conflicted. I don't know these kids, would that be too trusting of me?

Somebody please invite me to your TTRPG game. I've wanted to do the flail hand + throwing weapon Half-Orc barbarian forever and I finally have written a backstory for her (and that's the brief synopsis above).

She has a flail for a hand. And she throws tridents or spears or whatever too.

Kill her spineless human father

Kill the knight that took her hand

Kill the knight that tortured her lover

Kill the knight that killed her mother

Kill the squad leader for ordering all of the above & more

Drow mentor puts on a show for the audience, but it's all flash and no substance. Tells the Half-Orc she must kill him. She refuses. He says « You are a daughter to me and I won't kill you ». Half-Orc kills him and earns her freedom at the cost of more trauma.

Tournament where the winner gets their freedom happens. Half-Orc enters. Drow doesn't. Half-Orc wins. Leader of sadistic knights in attendance. Knight pulls aside the head of the games before Half-Orc receives freedom. Forces one last fight to the death.

Half-Orc vs Drow mentor

Half-Orc meets a jaded, cynical veteran Drow gladiator. The two don't get along. Forced to fight together, save each other's life. Become close. Drow purchases prosthetic flail hand for half-orc, trains her. 5 years of cool gladiator shit happens.

Now I own an Isochron Scepter, a bougie Lightning Helix, a verdant command and a Battle Menu for 0 reason. Oops

The Grape Stomper weed pen reminding me that I have a shit ton of stashed away sick time and I can spend an entire Saturday looking at deck lists from 4-5 years ago with just a phone call

Could I remedy this issue by taking the Okos, Astrolabes, Deathrite Shamans, Once Upon a Times, Beanstalks, Uros, The One Rings, and Furies out of the binder?

I know prices don't dictate playability, but when a card is $20 more expensive than the legendary creature that punishes searching and is a more relevant color for pitch spell reasons, I don't think EDH playability is the cause for said gap

This might be my biggest miss of the set (after the Legend of Roku, I didn't even read that card and now it's stock in energy sideboards).

I had Badgermole Cub as a top 5 card in the set, but it seems to be #1 by a mile
