I don't think such events are breaking through with the public. The US is the global reserve currency on economic AND political grounds. Each chip away at that status spells doom for the US economy and its politico-military position in the world. Debt affords the US its military spending.

I think the outcome in Canada, with the Liberals winning and NDP holding a critical balance of seats, might be okay, for now. But too many Canadians voted for the empty shell of Conservative nonsense last night. One shining light--that fork-tongued creature, Pollievre, lost his parliamentary seat.

So, undoubtedly, it's true--the liberal state has proven a less-than-optimal vehicle for social justice. But it holds out one basic promise in two simple words: Due. Process. Lose that, and the rule of law that it accompanies, and you can kiss every other social justice project goodbye.
