Today is World Homelessness Day - fantastic to see Lewisham getting £515K from the Government’s £84m uplift to homelessness & rough-sleeping funding.

It’ll strengthen services for families living in temp housing & expand treatment/recovery support for people sleeping rough/at risk of homelessness.
Graphic showing brick wall painted pink, black, blue and yellow. It is overlaid with text which reads: "BREAKING NEWS... Lewisham to receive £515,023 to tackle homelessness & rough-sleeping". There is a small London Labour logo at the bottom.

I was delighted to visit Grinling Gibbons Primary recently.

Huge congratulations to the school for receiving the Gold RACE Charter Mark for the second time & for being the first primary to be awarded the Beacon of Excellence Race Charter for Race & Conscious Equality.

Brilliant to see the Chancellor reaffirming her commitment to lifting the two-child limit for universal credit and child tax credit.

This has the potential to lift hundreds of thousands of children out of poverty.

Reflecting on our Creative Industries Roundtable last week. 💭

Such an important opportunity to hear about the challenges Lewisham North creatives have been facing and how I, as their MP, can feed concerns and ideas back to Parliament and push for change.

Chuffed to bits to get a plaque put up for the amazing mural on my office, painted by Art Mongers and designed in collaboration with students from Oak Gardens Primary School.

Check it out if you get the chance - its bright colours make it hard to miss!

Happy International Day of Sign Language 👋

The UK has an estimated 87,000 Deaf British Sign Language users but many face exclusion, affecting their access to jobs, education, healthcare & justice.

Today, we celebrate linguistic rights, cultural diversity and inclusion.

Brilliant to host Lucy Powell MP in the constituency on Saturday as part of her Deputy Leader campaign.

As a voice for progressive change, she’s not afraid of having tough conversations to ensure we do our best for the country. Her bold vision is exactly what this party needs. 🌹

Honoured to meet the Palestinian Ambassador to the UK Husam Zomlot in the run up to the Gov officially recognising the state of Palestine.

Sunday marked a historic step in the direction of a two-state solution and vital peace in the region for Israelis and Palestinians. 🕊️

Important to meet with constituents at the Lobby of Parliament for Palestine last week.

Their message was clear: the UK must stand for justice, peace, and human rights.

We are expecting the Gov to formally recognise a Palestinian state soon.

Behind every statistic is a person living with blood cancer.

It takes listening to those with lived experience to understand the challenges and to shape better care.

This #BloodCancerAwarenessMonth, I’m proud to stand with Blood Cancer UK and those affected and call for urgent action.
The graphic shows bold text, "Blood cancer takes more than 15,000 lives a year. We know what it takes to beat it," across a burgundy background. The Blood Cancer UK logo is at the bottom of the graphic, alongside the words, "we know what it takes."
