I'd run big spells that have cheaper alternative ways to play them like adventure, cycling, channel, madness, split cards, rooms.

You are trapped in a holographic field until you agree to go back and do the tournament. Also the maid says she lost a bet to Jacinthe and now has to be her maid which to me is clearly meant to be an honour thing between besties/rivals but the fandom has called it slavery.

Using her holographic protector to find out what you think is more important than her tournament. Then when you finish the task and don't go back to her place to do the tournament she's put on hold for you she sends her maid to fetch you and she fights you.

Players seem to be fine with this (or get mad at the rival for it) despite this being forced unpaid labour on children.

Jacinthe invites you to a tournament, you bail out on it just before it starts to fight wild mega Pokémon and she gets annoyed at you for it. She then follows you around

Corbeu gives the rival (a child) a loan of 1 million Pokédollars with an insane interest rate. The player is forced to work for him to pay off the interest. It's community service stuff. He then stays at the hotel and tips the rival 1 million so they can pay off the loan.

I have a conspiracy theory that these cards were the bonus sheet until quite late on where some exec decided it would make more money to sell them separately and mimic the FF bonus sheet and the reason the avatar one is so bad and overlaps so much is because it was rushed.

It exists you just can't download it from the e-shop anymore. As far as I'm aware if you have the app you can still use it.

It's not something I've done myself as shinies are so much easier to get in newer games I'd rather shiny hunt than trade up the ones on my DS games.
