the fastest way to kill motivation is to make your identity depend on the outcome. it's called ego involvement. when failing becomes failing as a person, your brain starts avoiding the whole thing. not because you don't care, but because you care too much.

you don't need lower standards. you need less self-worth tangled up in your goals. the work gets easier when it's not about proving who you are.

So I've talked about my old Monster Buster artpack with some peers and if I'd ever do a Volume 2. and I've thought on it. maybe not as one I'd sell but as just a series of illustrations I'd share for free.

I imagined wanting to do them ahead of time for spooky month but that's a bit late now.

I'll admit, I've never experienced any questions regarding my gender, I'm fine but I often wonder out of morbid curiosity what gender dysphoria actually feels like.

I've had a different type of crisis of identity but it was more a feeling of lack of identity.

It's kinda unfortunate really, alphys has more of a character arc and a grander role in the narrative. But sans got the ultra hard boss fight so he's remembered and celebrated more.

Yeah, and a few of my family members remarked at the absurdly that only Christians, and specific Christians at that; will get scooped up.

Others have mentioned that it's written that no one will know the date, and anyone who says so is a poser.

Funny thing is, even my mother has finally cooled on it. Now we're just having a family dinner for the fest of trumpets, joking about what that African prophet is doing to cover up the fact the rapture didn't happen yet.

While not essential, nearly all games start from a narrative. And the ones that don't always start from the mechanics of a game that did.

And with the knight, I think there's a reason it's always represented by a horse, it's movement makes sense as a horse flanking and jumping over enemy lines.

Indeed, and both are legal within the context of the rules, it's just that now the rules fail to deliver on the narrative that gives them context.

Some wound argue that this is unimportant and only mechanics matter, but without the ludonarrative you wouldn't have had a game in the first place.

...Like this isn't the most egregious example but it's one a lot of card games do and it annoys me. I don't care if it's legal, I was sold on my guy being invincible, but apparently his invincibility fails if he's not specifically focused on with intent to kill?...

So something that irks me in card games is what I call "Semantic BS", it goes like this:

"I cast Invincible joe, he can't be targeted by spells!"

"well I cast explode the world, destroy all creatures."

"Well, joe lives because he can't be targeted!"

"The spell didn't *target* him, so he dies."

A friend and I did dabble with that idea once, of having duel masters but with MTG Power/Toughness. we didn't get too far into it but I think having that could introduce some interesting design space without encumbering the game too much mechanically. adding Dice to DM isn't asking too much either.
