The question is not a matter of can trans people change sex but one of can cisgender people stop us.

I only now noticed that misspelling… It’s ace of *spades 🤦

Someone already responded, but there is also a #AltHSky feed that’s significantly more curated if you’d like that

We tend to use other labels besides therian specifically, but we’re very nonhuman. You can chat with us about it if you’d like.

Therianthropy and fictionkin can definitely overlap in cases like Warriors, or like you mentioned with fictional species. The word fictherian is sometimes used here.
Fictherian - Otherkin Wiki
Fictherian is a term which refers to someone who identifies as a non-human animal from a work of fiction or otherwise not from this Earth. In Orion Scribner's "Alterhuman...

What I’m trying to say with all of this is that there’s not necessarily One Exclusive Ultimate Truth to all aspects of your identity. Things are complicated and fluid and if you’re going for labels, go for the ones that help you make sense of things and find community.

More to the point, if you ARE insane or mentally ill, would that mean your identity isn’t real? We’ve met a fair few nonhumans whose nonhumanity IS a result of insanity or mental illness. Are THEIR identities not real? <- rhetorical question

“Am I actually just insane? Am I just mentally ill?”: This is probably one of the most complicated questions you asked. I’m not gonna get into here, but suffice to say that the Mad Pride crowd would have some things to say about this unfortunately rather common refrain.

Continuing that, the reason transgender people and transspecies people have such different experiences is mainly technology and societal acceptance. It doesn’t have a lot to do with anything innate about the experiences or identities.
Huge relate on the autistic not-understanding-humans thing btw.

“am I wrong to say that dysphoria is a shared experience between [otherkin and trans people]?”: Of course not! You’re not wrong for making observations. Gender dysphoria and species dysphoria are (at least for us) very similar feelings, just with different themes.

“I have no idea what [my soul] would look like”: This sort of continues my last thought. Plenty of otherkin determine that they’re otherkin before they determine their kind. All you would need to know for now is that you’re SOMETHING other than human in some way.
August 1, 2025 at 2:34 PM
I’m gonna tack all my replies to your thread onto this first post if you don’t mind.
“don’t know if I’m otherkin”: when people don’t naturally get a strong grasp on a label, we ask them to consider a different question: Is this label USEFUL to me? Is it helpful to understanding my identity?
August 1, 2025 at 2:34 PM
Well, *what* if? What *would* happen if you’re wrong? How would you know *for sure* whether you’re right or wrong?

Hypotheticals like these won’t get you anywhere if you can’t answer them. Live in the moment and be earnest and joyful.

Wrong question. People aren’t valid or not. You have the experiences that you do, regardless of what other people think about them. Whether delusion is involved is a separate question too. What you need to do is to find other people like you. I can direct you a couple different places if you like.
