Exactly!!! The changes they made stripped that part. I don’t know if they are trying to capitalize on a monster teaching a monster hunter to be humane theme but they went about it in a way that wrecked who Regis is throughout his story arc and history.

Though they nodded to blood not being necessary, they still made higher vampires to be less refined and savage- like stacking of human bodies to demonstrate feeding….
They also added a human love interest and that ended with Regis feeling shame around being a vampire which is… gross.

Milva was good, imo. They more or less remained true in the important moments except they changed a few moments- one for the better, the other for convenience. I found Cahir to be well done.
For Regis, they changed his backstory in a way that over blows the monster trope.

I won’t go into detail since you don’t want to know but Regis is my all time favorite fictional character. What they changed about his background absolutely ruins much of why I love the character. It didn’t add anything and personally feels like it doesn’t align at all to how he’s portrayed.
